– Visa-free regime and minimum paperwork. Citizens of Russia and more than 80 other countries do not need a visa to Kyrgyzstan. Russians do not need a foreign passport (entry with an internal passport is allowed) and do not need temporary registration on the territory of the country for up to 30 days of stay.

Depends on the type of holiday you plan to spend in Kyrgyzstan.

– The best time for sightseeing trips is from March to October. At this time, the weather is comfortable in both cities and valleys, and all mountain roads are accessible for travelling.

– The best time for active tourism is from mid-June to early September. This period establishes the most stable and predictable weather in the mountains.

– The beach holiday season in Issyk-Kul is from early June to mid-September, when the water temperature in the lake is the most pleasant for swimming (21-25°C).

– The ski season is from November to April, when the mountains enjoy a sunny winter with perfect snow.

The state language is Kyrgyz, with Russian also having the status of an official language. In addition, English is becoming quite popular among young people

Citizens of 92 countries are exempted from registration at the place of stay in the Kyrgyz Republic, if the period of their stay does not exceed 10 – 90 days from the moment of entry (depending on citizenship). In particular, Russian citizens can stay in Kyrgyzstan for up to 30 days without registration.

Special permits are required to visit protected areas, National Natural Parks, border control zones.

Citizens of Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan and more than 80 other countries do not need a visa to Kyrgyzstan.

To enter Kyrgyzstan, you must have a passport with validity of at least 6 months as of the end date of the tour. Citizens of Russia can enter Kyrgyzstan with an internal passport (it is not necessary to have a foreign passport).

Banks and exchange offices in major cities change dollars/euros/rubles. Preference is given to US dollars, large notes (denomination 50-100$).

Please note that in Kyrgyzstan only new banknotes issued not earlier than 2000, without inscriptions, stamps, stains, breaks and other damages are accepted for exchange. Banknotes of 20, 10, 5 and 1$ denomination are exchanged at an undervalued rate.

Exchange offices are available at airports, railway stations, large hotels (round the clock), banks (usually work from 09:00 to 17:00 on weekdays). It is against the law to change currency at private individuals/bazaars.

 

In Bishkek and Osh you can buy: – Quilts and souvenirs (caps, slippers, panels, etc.).

– Shawls, scarves from local natural fabrics.

– Kurut (dry, salted cheese).

– Cognac.

 

In Karakol you can buy: – Handmade soap from natural herbs.

– Honey from mountain herbs.

– Articles made of felt.
